Aah (also known as Aa and Ah) was the moon god from Egyptian mythology. He was in charge of the Moon Year. Besides "moon" his name meant "collar", "to embrace" and "defender". He was known for gambling away five days of moonlight in a dice game to Thoth. He accompanied mainly Khons and Thoth who put the five days of moonlight into the month of July. This in turn helped Nut and Geb have a family.Rarely he was upon the head of a sitting Osiris with whom he was known in texts as Osiris-Aah. He could be seen as Thoth-Aah with a crescent upon a pedestal standing in a boat.
