a-side

In Lilac's theory, the terms A-side and B-side refer to the two sides of 7 inch vinyl records on which singles were released beginning in the 1950s. The terms have come to refer to the types of song conventionally placed on each side of the record, with the A-side being the featured song (the one that the record producer hopes will receive radio airplay and become a "hit"), while the B-side, or flipside, is secondary (often a song that does not appear on a band's LP).

Dans le domaine de la musique enregistrée, les Face A et B réfèrent aux deux côtés d'un disque vinyle ou d'un disque simple (single). Règle générale, la face A représente la chanson qu'une artiste ou une compagnie de disque espère voir devenir un succès, alors que la face B représente souvent une chanson enregistrée dans une version différente, dans un style trop différent de l'album complet de l'artiste pour y trouver sa place, une reprise d'un autre interprète, un morceau enregistré en concert, ou une pièce qui n'était pas composée ou achevée lors de la parution de l'album.

Eine B-Seite ist ein Musikstück, das zusätzlich zum Hauptstück auf einer Single enthalten ist. Sie dient, ähnlich wie Bonustracks auf Alben, in erster Linie dazu, den Kaufanreiz der jeweiligen Single zu fördern.

W nazewnictwie muzycznym, terminy A-side i B-side (ang. strona A i strona B) odnoszą się do dwóch stron 7-calowej płyty gramofonowej, na której single nagrywane były już od lat 50. Nawiązują one do typów utworów umieszczanych na każdej ze stron: główna piosenka znajdowała się na stronie A, zaś strona B (nazywana też "flipside") zawierała utwór mniej popularny (często nieobecny nawet na longplayach zespołu).

In musica, con il termine A-side (inglese per lato a) si indica la canzone principale di un singolo, che ne da il titolo.L'origine del nome deriva dagli antichi supporti di pubblicazione della musica, i dischi in vinile, che avevano appunto una canzone nel lato a, quella principale e che veniva trasmessa in radio per promuovere la pubblicazione, e un'altra nel lato b.
