The Zoological Society of London (sometimes known by the abbreviation ZSL) is a charity devoted to the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats. It was founded in London in April 1826 by Sir Stamford Raffles, the Marquess of Lansdowne, Lord Auckland, Sir Humphry Davy, Robert Peel, Joseph Sabine, Nicholas Aylward Vigors along with various other nobility, clergy, and naturalists. Raffles was also the first chairman and president but died shortly afterwards in July 1826. He was succeeded by the Marquess of Lansdowne who supervised the building of the first animal houses, a parcel of land in Regent's Park having already been obtained from the Crown at the inaugural meeting. It received a Royal Charter from George IV on 27 March 1829.

Le but de la société est d’étudier les animaux de façon comparative.

La Zoological Society of London (a veces denominada por sus siglas ZSL), Sociedad Zoológica de Londres, es una sociedad académica fundada en abril de 1826 por Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles (1781-1826), George Eden (1784-1849, primer Conde de Auckland (Lord Auckland), Sir Humphry Davy (1778-1829), Joseph Sabine (1770-1837), Nicholas Aylward Vigors (1785-1840) y otros eminentes naturalistas. Raffles fue también el primer Presidente, pero falleció pronto tras asumir este cargo en julio de 1826. Le sucedió el tercer Marqués de Lansdowne, Henry Petty-Fitzmaurice (1780-1863), quien consiguió una parcela de terreno en Regent's Park de la Corona con un alquiler simbólico y supervisó la construcción de las primeras instalaciones para los animales. Obtuvo el Estatuto Real de Jorge IV del Reino Unido el 27 de marzo de 1829.

Zoological Society of London on vuonna 1826 perustettu englantilainen akateemikkojen seura. Sen perustajajäseniin kuului muun muassa Robert Peel, Nicholas Aylward Vigors, Humphry Davy ja Stamford Raffles.
