The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (often shortened to Ziggy Stardust) is a 1972 concept album by English musician David Bowie, which is loosely based on a story of a fictional rock star named Ziggy Stardust. It peaked at number five in the United Kingdom and number 75 in the United States on the Billboard Music Charts. A concert film of the same name directed by D.A. Pennebaker was released in 1973.

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars oder kurz Ziggy Stardust ist ein Konzeptalbum von David Bowie aus dem Jahr 1972, das von der Musikzeitschrift Melody Maker als das "maßgebliche Album der 1970er Jahre" ausgezeichnet wurde. Es erreichte Platz 5 in Großbritannien sowie Platz 75 der amerikanischen Billboard-Charts und lieferte den Stoff für einen Dokumentarfilm von D. A. Pennebaker von 1973.

Ziggy Stardust
Ziggy Stardust est un personnage fictif créé et joué par David Bowie entre 1970 et 1973. Il l'utilisait comme une seconde personnalité, ni homme ni femme. Ziggy fut le commencement des années du Glam rock et du New wave. Lorsque Bowie comprit que son succès n'en tenait qu'à Ziggy, il décida de le tuer sur scène en juin 1973 à Hammerfield, après avoir joué Rock'n'roll Suicide. Suite au chaos médiatique provoqué par cet évènement, des milliers de fans connurent la chute la plus dure de la carrière du célèbre David Bowie. Ce fut ainsi la fin de la carrière de l'androgyne intergalactique qui venait d'ailleurs et Ziggy Stardust laissa place à Aladdin Sane.

Il atteignit la cinquième place des charts au Royaume-Uni et la 75 au Billboard. En 2006, le magazine Time l'inclut dans sa sélection des 100 plus grands albums de tous les temps.

The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars (Wzlot i upadek Ziggy'ego Stardusta i Pająków z Marsa) – jest wydanym w 1972 roku (zob. 1972 w muzyce) glamrockowym albumem koncepcyjnym nagranym przez Davida Bowiego.
Bohaterem piosenek albumu jest fikcyjna postać i jednocześnie artystyczne alter-ego Davida Bowiego - Ziggy Stardust. Jest to postać kosmity, który przybywa na Ziemię ze swoją grupą i staje się gwiazdą rocka. Zgodnie z tytułem płyty, przeżywa on swój wzlot i upadek.
Według magazynu muzycznego Melody Maker jest to najważniejszy album lat siedemdziesiątych XX wieku. Ziggy dotarł na 5. miejsce na liście przebojów w Anglii, ale tylko na 75. miejsce na liście przebojów Billboard Music Charts w Ameryce.
