Zala County
Zala ( or ) is the name of an administrative county (comitatus or megye) in Hungary. It lies in south-western Hungary. It is named after the Zala River. It shares borders with Croatia and Slovenia and the Hungarian counties Vas, Veszprém and Somogy. The capital of Zala county is Zalaegerszeg. Its area is 3784 km². Lake Balaton lies partly in the county.

Zala
Zala est un département (megye) de l'ouest de la Hongrie. Il tire son nom de la rivière Zala qui le traverse. Il est limitrophe de la Slovénie, de la Croatie et des megyék de Vas, Veszprém et de Somogy. Le lac Balaton est partiellement situé dans ce département. Depuis 1998, le megye de Zala appartient à l'eurorégion de Pannonie Occidentale.

Zala – rzeka w zachodnich Węgrzech. Długość - 138 km, średni przepływ - 6 m³/s.
Źródła przy granicy węgiersko-austriackiej. Uchodzi do jeziora Balaton, gdzie tworzy deltę. Ważny korytarz ekologiczny, miejsce gniazdowania ptaków wodno-błotnych. Największym miastem leżącym nad rzeką Zala jest Zalaegerszeg.

Komitat Zala
Komitat Zala leży na Wyżynie Panońskiej. Obejmuje wzgórza Göcsej, Zalai i Keszthelyi. Główną rzeką części północnej jest Zala, południowej - Mura z dopływami Kerka i Cserta. Powierzchnia komitatu jest pagórkowata.
Komitat Zala powstał w XI wieku. Po traktacie w Trianon oderwano od niego południowo-zachodni pas (Prekmurje i Medimurje), który przyłączono do Jugosławii. W 1950 tereny na północ od Balatonu przyłączono do komitatu Veszprém.
