Yokneam, until 2006 Yokneam Illit, (יקנעם עילית, also transliterated Yoqne'am) has since 2006 been organised as a city council. It is located in a hilly region of northern Israel's lower Galilee, bordered by Highway 70 and Mount Carmel, and had a population of 18,200 at the end of 2005. The town has developed as a centre for high tech businesses.
