Yo soy Betty, la fea ("I am Betty, the ugly") is a popular telenovela filmed in Colombia, written by Fernando Gaitán and produced between 1999 through 2001 by the Colombian network RCN (Radio Cadena Nacional) in cooperation of Venezuelan network RCTV (Radio Caracas Television). More than a dozen versions of the telenovela have been made in other countries. In the United States, both the comedy-drama hit Ugly Betty and Televisa program La Fea Más Bella are based on the Colombian soap opera.

Yo soy Betty, la fea (deutsch: „Ich bin Betty, die Hässliche“) ist eine international erfolgreiche Telenovela, die in den Jahren 1999 bis 2001 in Kolumbien unter der Regie von Mario Ribero Ferreira gedreht wurde. Yo soy Betty, la fea è il titolo originale di una telenovela (anche se il termine è forse forzato, dal momento che nello spettatore le risate prevalgono sulle lacrime) colombiana nata nel 1999 (RCN TV) il cui nome in Italia è diventato semplicemente Betty la cozza per la sua trasmissione sul canale tematico Happy Channel e Betty la fea per numerose emittenti regionali italiane che hanno comprato l'opera, tra cui Teleroma 56 e Telenorba.
