Yes (Band)

Yes are an English progressive rock band that formed in London in 1968. Their music uses complex arrangements, unusual time signatures, virtuoso musicianship, dramatic dynamic and metrical changes, a blend of musical styles, vocal harmonies, and a unique lyrical style. Despite the many changes to its lineup, the band has continued for nearly 40 years and retains a strong international following.

Yes est un groupe de rock britannique de style progressif qui composa ses premières chansons en 1969. Bien que la composition du groupe ait changé au fil des ans, les membres fondateurs Jon Anderson et Chris Squire peuvent être considérés comme le noyau du groupe avec Steve Howe. Anderson a participé à tous les albums sauf un (Drama) tandis que Squire a participé à tous les albums officiels de Yes. Rick Wakeman, d'un autre côté, a intégré et quitté le groupe au moins quatre fois.

Yes waren in den 1970er Jahren zusammen mit Genesis, Emerson, Lake & Palmer und King Crimson prominenteste Vertreter des Progressive Rock. Diese vier Bands, oft als die „Großen Vier“ des Progressive Rock bezeichnet, waren stilbildend für das Genre und sind auch heute noch Haupteinfluss vieler neueren Progressive-Rock-Bands wie Spock's Beard und IQ oder auch Progressive-Metal-Gruppen wie Dream Theater.

Yes – brytyjska grupa rockowa będąca przedstawicielem progresywnego rocka, lecz najczęściej ich muzykę określa się jako rock symfoniczny. Yes wypracowała bardzo charakterystyczne, głębokie brzmienie, oparte na skomplikowanych harmoniach, złożonych rytmach oraz wirtuozerii warsztatowej. Jej członkowie wykorzystują instrumenty akustyczne, elektryczne i elektroniczne. Grupa została założona w 1968 i jest aktywna do dziś.

Gli Yes sono un gruppo rock progressivo britannico, formato nel 1968 e tuttora in attività, che ha conosciuto il suo periodo di maggior successo negli anni settanta e ottanta. La lunga carriera del gruppo è stata caratterizzata da un notevole alternarsi di formazioni, costituite intorno al nucleo più o meno fisso di Jon Anderson alla voce e Chris Squire al basso; la formazione attuale comprende anche Steve Howe alla chitarra, Rick Wakeman alle tastiere e Alan White alla batteria. Tra gli altri artisti che si sono avvicendati nel corso dell'attività degli Yes annoveriamo Bill Bruford (batteria, percussioni), Geoff Downes, Patrick Moraz (tastiere), Trevor Horn (voce) e Trevor Rabin (chitarra). L'ultima pubblicazione del gruppo, del 2005, è un album live tratto dall'ultimo tour mondiale che ha toccato tutti i cinque continenti.
