Xylophon

Das Xylophon bzw. -fon (v. griech.: xylos Holz; phoné Stimme) ist ein traditionelles Schlaginstrument, das seine primitiven Ursprünge in Asien hat und in Afrika weiterentwickelt wurde. Es gehört zur Familie der Stabspiele (engl. Mallet-Percussion), zu deren wichtigsten Vertretern in Europa neben dem Xylophon das Marimbaphon (Marimba), das Glockenspiel und das Vibraphon zählen.
