Wellingborough,
England. The City is famous for the Säubrennerkirmes, a public festival which takes place on the third weekend every August. The festival is based on a Legend: during siege in medieval time a night watchman could not find the bolt for the town gate. So he used a turnip to lock the gate. The legend goes that at night a Sau (German for pig) ate that turnip, the gate burst open and the town was plundered. To take revenge for that the people of Wittlich gather about 100 pigs every year and roast them one after the other in the market square of the town.
