Withdrawal From Conspiracy
In federal criminal law, in order to withdraw from a conspiracy and thereby escape liability for it, a person must have done something to interfere with the successful completion of the planned crime [e.g., the bank robbery] before any overt act was committed. It is usually not enough to have just ceased to participate in the conspiracy.
