He is the beating English heart in Chelsea FC’s cosmopolitan side, Wise’s key strength is his commitment, but his fine footballing attributes are often overlooked. As Chelsea captain, he has won the UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, English League Cup and English FA Cup, and has certainly not out of place alongside the likes of George Weah, Didier Deschamps and Marcel Desailly, and now finally he looks like getting a regular England place.
