WebObjects

WebObjects is a Java Web application server by Apple Computer, and a web application framework that runs on the server. It is available, at no additional cost, as part of the company's Mac OS X platform. Its hallmark features are its deep object-orientation, powerful data connectivity features, and rapid prototyping tools. Applications created with WebObjects can be Web browser-based, have the full interactivity of stand-alone Java desktop applications or be offered as standards-based Web services.

WebObjects est un outil informatique de développement rapide de sites Web dynamiques. Développé à l'origine par NeXT, il est aujourd'hui commercialisé par Apple, Inc.. Il fonctionne sur Mac OS X v10.2 et + (développement et déploiement), Microsoft Windows 2000 SP3 et + (développement et déploiement) et Sun Solaris 8 et HP-UX (déploiement uniquement). Le déploiement sous Linux est aisé mais non officiellement supporté. La dernière version (5.4) est fournie avec XCode, l'IDE d'Apple.

WebObjects è un ambiente di sviluppo per application server. Venne originariamente sviluppato da NeXT Computer, quando Apple Computer nel 1996 acquisì NeXT acquisì anche il programma WebObjects. L'ultima versione di WebObjects è la 5.2.3 e venne presentata nel Marzo del 2004. Apple vende WebObjects a 699 euro, nella licenza è inclusa la possibilità di sviluppare e installare applicazioni WebObjects.
