Washington County, Iowa

Washington County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. It is one of the two counties that make up in the Iowa City, Iowa Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of 2000, the population was 20,670. Its county seat is Washington.⁶One of the towns located within Washington County is Riverside. Riverside is known as the future birthplace of Captain James T. Kirk of the Star Trek science fiction saga.
