Warsaw (, ; known also by other names) is the capital of Poland and its largest city. It is located on the Vistula River roughly from both the Baltic Sea coast and the Carpathian Mountains. Its population as of 2006 was estimated at 1,700,536, with a metropolitan area of approximately 2,900,000 to 3,000,000 people . The city area is , with an agglomeration of (Warsaw Metro Area - Obszar Metropolitalny Warszawy). Warsaw is the 8th biggest city in the European Union.

Varsovie, (en polonais : Warszawa ) est depuis 1596 la capitale de la Pologne et depuis 1999 le chef-lieu de la voïvodie de Mazovie. Elle est située sur la Vistule à environ 370 km de la mer Baltique et des Carpates. La population de Varsovie était de 1 706 624 habitants en 2008, ce qui en fait la plus grande ville de Pologne et la 7 plus grande de l'Union européenne. La superficie de la ville est de 516,9 km² et en tenant compte de sa région métropolitaine (Obszar Metropolitalny Warszawy) de 6100,43 km². Varsovie se divise en dix-huit arrondissements (dzielnice).

Warschau, polnisch Warszawa ([] ), ist die Hauptstadt und die größte Stadt Polens. Nach Einwohnern gesehen ist die Stadt die achtgrößte der Europäischen Union. Sie liegt an der Weichsel (Wisla) in der Woiwodschaft Masowien, hat mittlerweile über 1,7 Mio. Einwohner und ist Zentrum eines  Agglomerationsraums mit Orbitalstädten wie Pruszków, Grodzisk Mazowiecki, Zyrardów, Wolomin, Otwock, Legionowo u.a. mit rund 3,5 Mio. Einwohnern.

Warszawa (pełna nazwa formalna: miasto stołeczne Warszawa) – miasto położone w środkowo-wschodniej  Polsce, na Mazowszu nad rzeką Wisłą. Warszawa stawała się stolicą Polski m.in. dzięki królowi Zygmuntowi III Wazie, który w 1596 roku, zapoczątkował swoje wyjazdy do tego miasta. Oficjalną (konstytucyjną) stolicą Polski, Warszawa stała się w 1952 roku.
