W.A.S.P. gained notoriety for its shock rock themed image, lyrics and live performances. The band continues to write and perform today, though Blackie Lawless remains the only member from the original line-up. They released a new album in April, 2007 entitled "Dominator".

W.A.S.P. to grupa muzyczna, która zapoczątkowała swoją działalność w późnych latach 70. Nosiła wtedy nazwę "Sister".W 1981 roku, trzech z czterech członków grupy Sister założyło kapelę, którą nazwali W.A.S.P. (Tony Richards, Blackie Lawless, oraz Randy Piper). Chociaż skrót nie ma oficjalnego rozwinięcia, to dwa najsławniejsze domysły to: We Are Satans People (czyli Jesteśmy ludźmi szatana) oraz We Are Sexual Pervers (czyli Jesteśmy perwersami seksualnymi). Zespół zasłynął kontrowersyjnymi występami przed publicznością. Skład grupy wielokrotnie się zmieniał, a do dziś z pierwotnego składu pozostał tylko Blackie Lawless.

I W.A.S.P. sono un gruppo heavy metal statunitense, formatosi a Los Angeles nel 1982. L'acronimo "W.A.S.P.", che in lingua inglese viene generalmente inteso come "White Anglo-Saxon Protestant" ("protestante bianco anglosassone"), fu invece reinterpretato dai membri del gruppo perchè significasse "We Are Sexual Perverts" ("siamo maniaci sessuali"). I W.A.S.P. sono infatti celebri per i loro spettacoli molto caratteristici, che spesso presentano numeri scabrosi o cruenti, sullo stesso stile di quelli inscenati da Alice Cooper, il pioniere di questo tipo di spettacoli. Oltre ai W.A.S.P. in quegli anni trovano successo anche gruppi come i Lizzy Borden o i Motley Crue del primo periodo.
