Vietnamese language

Vietnamese (tiếng Việt, or less commonly Việt ngữ), formerly known under the French colonization as Annamese (see Annam), is the national and official language of Vietnam. It is the mother tongue of the Vietnamese people (người Việt or người Kinh), who constitute 86% of Vietnam's population, and of about three million overseas Vietnamese, most of whom live in the United States. It is also spoken as a second language by some ethnic minorities of Vietnam. It is part of the Austroasiatic language family, of which it has the most speakers by a significant margin (several times larger than the other Austroasiatic languages put together). Much vocabulary has been borrowed from Chinese, and it was originally written using the Chinese writing system. The Vietnamese writing system in use today is an adapted version of the Latin alphabet, with additional diacritics for tones and certain letters.

Le vietnamien (en vietnamien : Tiếng Việt) est la langue officielle du Viêt Nam. Il appartient à la branche môn-khmer des langues austroasiatiques. Il est la langue austroasiatique qui possède le plus de locuteurs (environ dix fois plus que la seconde, le khmer). C'est une langue isolante et monosyllabique, dotée d'un système de 6 tons.

Die vietnamesische Sprache (Vietnamesisch, Annamitisch, tiếng Việt, tiếng Việt Nam, oder Việt ngữ) ist die Amtssprache in Vietnam. Sie wird von etwa 75 Millionen Menschen als Muttersprache gesprochen, davon etwa 70 Millionen Menschen in Vietnam und schätzungsweise sechs bis sieben Millionen Vietnamesen im Ausland.

Język wietnamski (tiếng Việt, tiếng Việt Nam lub Việt ngữ) jest narodowym i oficjalnym językiem Wietnamu. Wietnamski jest językiem ojczystym Wietnamczyków (người Việt / người kinh) stanowiących ok. 87% populacji tego kraju, oraz ok. dwóch milionów wietnamskich emigrantów. Jako język obcy używany jest przez mniejszości narodowe Wietnamu.

Vietnamees (Vietnamees: tiếng Việt; Chữ nôm: 㗂越; Internationaal Fonetisch Alfabet: ), een toontaal, is de officiële taal van Vietnam. Het is de moedertaal van 87% van de bevolking van Vietnam en van ongeveer twee miljoen Vietnamese emigranten. Hoewel het veel leenwoorden uit het Chinees bevat en het oorspronkelijk werd geschreven met Chinese karakters, wordt het gerekend tot de Austroaziatische talen. Van deze talengroep heeft het Vietnamees de meeste sprekers (tien keer zo veel als het Khmer, de taal die wat het aantal sprekers betreft op de tweede plaats staat).
