The Vietnamese people (Vietnamese: người Việt or người Kinh) are an ethnic group originating from what is now northern Vietnam and southern China. They are the majority ethnic group of Vietnam, comprising 86% of the population as of the 1999 census, and are officially known as Kinh to distinguish them from other ethnic groups in Vietnam.

Les Viêt (en vietnamien : người Việt ou người Kinh) sont un groupe ethnique originaire de la partie nord de ce qui constitue l'actuel Viêtnam et du sud de la Chine. Ils forment l'ethnie majoritaire du Viêtnam et constituent 86% de la population (recensement de 1999). Le nom officiel du groupe est Kinh, pour les distinguer des autres ethnies du Vietnam.

Die Vietnamesen (auch Kinh) sind eine Ethnie in Südostasien. Ihr ursprüngliches Heimatland ist das heutige nördliche Vietnam. 86% der Bevölkerung Vietnams sind Vietnamesen. In der Volksrepublik China sind sie eine anerkannte ethnische Minderheit und werden Gin (京族 Jīngzú = "Gin-Volk") genannt.Obwohl die Vietnamesen überwiegend in Südostasien leben, sind sie nach jahrhundertelanger Beeinflussung durch China Ostasien und vor allem den Südchinesen kulturell näher als den Südostasiaten.

Wietnamczycy naród na Półwyspie Indochińskim, zamieszkujący głównie w Wietnamie. Obecna liczba ludności wynosi 85,2 mln obywateli, z czego 86% to właściwi Wietnamczycy, określający się nazwą Kinh. Pozostali zaliczani są do mniejszości narodowych. Ich duże skupiska występują także w USA 1,2 mln, Kanadzie 150 tys., Kambodży 520 tys., Francji 250 tys., Niemczech 80 tys. i w Polsce około 50 tys. Te skupiska tworzy emigracja polityczno-ekonomiczna.

I Viet (o anche Kinh, Gin o in vietnamita: người Việt o người Kinh) sono il più grande gruppo etnico del Vietnam, originari del nord del paese e delle regioni a sud della Cina confinanti con lo stesso Vietnam.Essi rappresentano l'86 ella popolazione totale del paese secondo il censimento del 1999 e sono ufficialmente conosciuti anche come Kinh per distinguerli dagli altri gruppi etnici vietnamiti.In Cina sono ufficialmente riconosciuti come minoranza etnica per le regioni intorno alla provincia di Guangxi e nel mandarino cinese standard sono chiamati col loro nome originario, Jing/Gin o "Jingzu"/"Ginzu" .
