Vickers Vanguard
The Vickers Vanguard was a British short/medium-range turboprop airliner introduced in 1959 by Vickers-Armstrongs, a development of their successful Viscount design with considerably more internal room. The Vanguard was introduced just before the first of the large jet-powered airliners, and was largely ignored by the market. Only 44 were built, ordered by Trans-Canada Air Lines (TCA) and British European Airways (BEA). After only about 10 years service TCA experimentally converted one of theirs to a freighter configuration, calling it the Cargoliner. This was considered successful, and in the early 1970s most were converted to freighters, those from BEA becoming the Merchantman. These freighters remained in service for many years, with the last one (G-APEP) only retiring in 1996.

Vickers Vanguard
Die Vickers Vanguard war ein viermotoriges Passagierflugzeug, ausgelegt für Kurz- und Mittelstrecken. Sie wurde als Nachfolgemodell der Vickers Viscount erst kurz vor dem Aufkommen der großen Passagierjets 1959 in Dienst gestellt und so vom Markt kaum wahrgenommen. Die Vanguard war das letzte große europäische Passagierflugzeug mit Propellerantrieb. Die Produktion wurde 1962 eingestellt. Insgesamt wurden nur 43 Stück produziert.

Vickers Vanguard
Le Vickers Vanguard Type 950 a été un avion de ligne à turbopropulseurs moyen-courrier, lancé en 1959 par Vickers-Armstrong, dont la conception a été issue en partie de celle du Vickers Viscount, un avion similaire lancé une décennie auparavant.

Vickers Vanguard
El nombre "Vanguard" ya había sido empleado anteriormente en una versión civil del bombardero Vickers Virginia, versión que también recibió los nombres "Victoria" y "Valentia".
El Vanguard 950 era un avión turbohélice de corto y medio alcance introducido en 1959 por Vickers-Armstrong como una versión del exitoso Vickers Viscount con considerablemente mayor espacio interior. El Vanguard fue presentado justo antes de que apareciese el primer gran avión comercial a reacción, y por ello fue bastante ignorado por el mercado. Sólo 43 fueron construidos por encargo de Trans Canada Airlines (TCA) y British European Airways (BEA). Tras sólo 10 años en servicio TCA convirtió de forma experimental uno de ellos en carguero, llamándolo Cargoliner. Esta modificación fue considerada bastante exitosa, y a principios de los 70 la gran mayoría fueron convertidos (a los que BEA convirtió los llamó Merchantman). Estos cargueros permanecieron en servicio durante años, siendo el último el G-APEP retirado en 1996.
