The Verde River is the north and northwestern watershed of the
Salt River–Verde River Watershed that co-join and enter the
Gila River at
Phoenix, Arizona located in the
U.S. state of
Arizona. It is approximately 170 mi (273.5 km) long and carries a mean flow of 1120 ft³/s (31.7 m³/s) at its mouth with the Salt River making it one of the largest perennial rivers within the state.

Scenic River Area: The northern boundary of the Scenic River Area is the section line between Section 26 and 27, T13N, R5E, Gila-Salt River meridian. The southern boundary is the boundary of the Mazatzal Wilderness which is within Section 11, T11N, R6E.

Wild River Area: The northern boundary of the Wild River Area is the boundary of the Mazatzal Wilderness which is within Section 11, T11N, R6E. The southern boundary is at the confluence of Red Creek with the Verde River within Section 34, T9 l/2N, R6E.

Classification/Mileage: Wild -- 35.7 kilometers/22.2 miles; Scenic -- 29.5 kilometers/18.3 miles; Total -- 65.2 kilometers/40.5 miles.
The Scenic River Area contains approximately 2,277 hectares (5,692 acres). The Scenic River Area is 50% within the Coconino National Forest, 38% within the Prescott National Forest, and 12% within the Tonto National Forest. The Wild River Area contains approximately 2,730 hectares (6,824 acres). The Wild River Area is 7% within the Coconino National Forest and 93% within the Tonto National Forest.
