Vagrancy (biology)
Vagrancy is a phenomenon in biology whereby individual animals appear well outside their normal range; individual animals which exhibit vagrancy are known as vagrants. The term accidental is sometimes also used. There are a number of factors which might cause an individual to become a vagrant — genetic factors and weather conditions are two — but the causes are overall poorly understood. Vagrancy can be a precursor to colonisation if individuals survive.

Espèce erratique
Cette page d’ répertorie les différents sujets et articles partageant un même nom.
En zoologie on qualifie d'erratiques, des espèces qui présentent des comportements de nature différente :- Des erreurs de migrations
- Une colonisation territoriales due à de multiples phénomène qui peuvent aller, de la fuite d'un territoire devenue impropre à leur survie, à une augmentation des populations sur un territoire d'origine.
- des espèces que l'on retrouve assez régulièrement dans une zone géographique située en dehors de leur aire de répartition habituelle. Pour l'en ornithologie, en particulier on parle d'oiseau rare. Exemple : le Pic syriaque en Allemagne
- des espèces non territoriales qui, hors période de reproduction, vagabondent en fonction des conditions climatiques ou alimentaires, sans se fixer. Exemples : le Bec-croisé des sapins, le Jaseur boréal.

Dwaalgast
Een dwaalgast is een dier dat in een bepaald gebied slechts enkele keren is gesignaleerd. Soms worden er in zee levende zoogdieren mee aangeduid, of vleermuizen, maar het betreft meestal vogels.
De vogel (het dier) komt ergens normaal niet voor, maar verlaat door extreme omstandigheden zoals kou, ziekte, droogte of voedselgebrek de natuurlijke habitat. Ook oriëntatieproblemen spelen een belangrijke rol, vooral bij de zeezoogdieren.
