VU (Volume Units)

A unit of measure for complex audio signals, usually in dB's. Zero VU is referenced to 1 milliwatt of power into a 600 ohm load. The reference level of -20 dB in this program is 0 VU. Waveform Monitor A specialized oscilloscope that is used to display and evaluate video signals. The horizontal axis of a waveform monitor is driven by a time base synchronized to the video signal. The vertical axis of the display is driven by the amplitude of the video signal.
