Usury

Usury (//, from the Medieval Latin usuria, "interest" or "excessive interest", from Latin usura "interest") was defined originally as charging a fee for the use of money. This usually meant interest on loans, although charging a fee for changing money (as at a bureau de change) is included in the original meaning. After moderate-interest loans were made more easily available usury became an accepted part of the business world in the early modern age. Today, the word has come to refer to the charging of unreasonable or relatively high rates of interest.

Initialement l'usure est l'intérêt que produit l'argent prêté ; du point de vue financier, c'est actuellement un taux d'intérêt abusif, obtenu d'un capital prêté ou d'une marchandise vendue à crédit au-dessus du taux fixé par la coutume ou la loi ; c'est aussi le fait de prêter de l'argent à ce taux d'intérêt.

Lichwa - forma stosunków kredytowych między wierzycielem, a dłużnikiem, polegająca na pobieraniu wygórowanych procentów za pożyczone pieniądze. Znana była w starożytności i w Polsce od wczesnego średniowiecza. Potępiana przez Kościół Islam i w   Torze. W Polsce międzywojennej oprocentowanie pożyczki powyżej 10 % określano jako lichwiarstwo. Było prawnie zabronione i ścigane. W wielu systemach prawnych lichwa jest zakazana, zaś wysokość odsetek maksymalnych określona ustawowo. Jest tak również w Polsce - wysokość odsetek maksymalnych kodeks cywilny określa na czterokrotność stopy kredytu lombardowego Narodowego Banku Polskiego.

Si considera usura la pratica consistente nel fornire prestiti a tassi di interesse considerati illegali, socialmente riprovevoli e tali da rendere il loro rimborso molto difficile o impossibile, spingendo perciò il debitore ad accettare condizioni capestro poste dal creditore a proprio vantaggio, come la vendita a un prezzo particolarmente vantaggioso per il compratore di un bene di proprietà del debitore, oppure spingendo il creditore a compiere atti illeciti ai danni del debitore per indurlo a pagare.
