A Unix-like (sometimes referred to as UN*X or *nix) operating system is one that behaves in a manner similar to a Unix system, while not necessarily conforming to or being certified to any version of the Single UNIX Specification.

Un système d’exploitation de type Unix est un système d’exploitation qui se comporte d’une façon semblable à un système Unix, bien que n’étant pas nécessairement conforme ou certifié par une quelconque version de la Single UNIX specification. Le terme peut regrouper les systèmes d’exploitations libres ou open source inspirés par Unix des laboratoires Bell ou conçu pour imiter ses fonctionnalités.

Vanliga exempel som nämns idag brukar vara GNU/Linux och de olika varianterna av BSD. Mac OS X är sedan 2007 certifierat som ”äkta” UNIX, versioner 10.0–10.4 är ”unixliknande”.

System uniksopodobny – mianem tym określa się system operacyjny zbliżony budową do systemu Unix, jednakże niewywodzący się bezpośrednio lub pośrednio z kodu BSD lub System V.
