The Supreme Court of the United States (sometimes colloquially referred to by the acronym SCOTUS) is the highest judicial body in the United States and leads the judicial branch of the U.S. federal government.The Court consists of nine Justices: the Chief Justice of the United States and eight Associate Justices. The Justices are nominated by the President and confirmed with the "advice and consent" of the Senate. As federal judges, the Justices serve during "good behavior," meaning they essentially serve for life and can be removed only by resignation, or by impeachment and subsequent conviction.

La Cour suprême des États-Unis (Supreme Court of the United States — parfois abrégé en SCOTUS — ou United States Supreme Court) est le sommet du pouvoir judiciaire aux États-Unis et le tribunal de dernier ressort. C'est l'Article III de la Constitution des États-Unis qui institue une Cour suprême et autorise le Congrès à instituer des tribunaux inférieurs, ce qu'il a fait. Conformément à l'article III, la Cour suprême est compétente sur tous les cas relevant de la Constitution ou des lois des États-Unis et des traités qu'ils ont conclus. Der Oberste Gerichtshof der Vereinigten Staaten (engl. Supreme Court of the United States //, abgekürzt als USSC oder SCOTUS) ist das oberste rechtsprechende Staatsorgan der Vereinigten Staaten. Neben diesem obersten Bundesgericht existieren auch Supreme Courts in jedem einzelnen Bundesstaat.Der Supreme Court ist das einzige amerikanische Gericht, das explizit in der Verfassung der Vereinigten Staaten vorgesehen ist. Zusätzlich richtete der Kongress 13 Bundesberufungsgerichte (Federal Courts of Appeals) und – eine Stufe darunter – 95 Bundesbezirksgerichte (Federal District Courts) ein. Der Supreme Court kommt in Washington, D.C. zusammen, die anderen Bundesgerichte sind landesweit verteilt.

Sąd Najwyższy Stanów Zjednoczonych (ang. Supreme Court of the United States) jest głową władzy sądowniczej w systemie trójwładzy funkcjonującym w Stanach Zjednoczonych, obok władzy wykonawczej (prezydenta) i ustawodawczej (Kongresu).
