United States Department of State

The United States Department of State, often referred to as the State Department, is the Cabinet-level foreign affairs agency of the United States government, equivalent to foreign ministries in other countries. It is administered by the Secretary of State. It is headquartered in the Harry S Truman Building at 2201 C Street, N.W., a few blocks from the White House in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of Washington, D.C.  The Department's Secretary is the first Cabinet member in the line of succession in the event of the disability or death of the President, and is fourth after the Vice President, the Speaker of the House, and the President pro tempore of the United States Senate.

Das Außenministerium der Vereinigten Staaten (United States Department of State oder auch State Department) ist für die Außenpolitik der USA zuständig. Es existiert seit 27. Juli 1789 und hat ihren Sitz in Washington D.C. Außenministerin (United States Secretary of State) ist derzeit Condoleezza Rice. Neben dem Außenminister gibt es einen Vizeaußenminister (Deputy Secretary of State) – diesen Posten hat derzeit (Stand: März 2007) Ellen Sauerbrey inne – und sechs Untersekretäre (Under-Secretary of State; vergleichbar einem deutschen Staatssekretär).

O Departamento de Estado dos Estados Unidos da América (United States Department of State, em inglês) é um departamento federal dos Estados Unidos de representação do governo nas relações internacionais.
