A unit is a type of
housing. In Australia and New Zealand, the term unit (or sometimes home unit or housing unit) denotes a
dwelling within a group (or 'block') of similar dwellings, usually of modest scale, and may be one or more stories high. Units may be attached, semi-detached or detached, and will comprise a self-contained suite of rooms. A single room unit is more commonly referred to as a
studio flat or
bedsitter, otherwise known as a
Single Room Occupancy or SRO in North America.
