Unification of Karnataka

The Unification of Karnataka refers to the formation of the Indian state of Mysore in 1956 when several Indian states were created by redrawing borders based on linguistic demographics. The formation of the state of Mysore was the culmination of a movement that had started several decades earlier during British rule when the first demands for a state based on Kannada demographics had been put forward.
