The Undergraduate Council of Students is the student government at
Brown University, one of the
Ivy League universities in the
United States. It was originally known as the Cammarian Club, so-called because its members were fond of dining on lobster in monthly dinner meetings. The Undergraduate Council of Students comprises twenty-eight elected members, including five representatives from each class. Within UCS, members are assigned to one of four committees, dealing with Campus Life, Administrative and Academic Affairs, Admissions and Student Services, and Student Activities. Many members also choose to serve on either the Communications Committee, charged with articulating UCS' purpose to the Brown campus, or the Appointments Committee, responsible for selecting student appointments to University committees.
