UNICEF

The United Nations Children's Fund (or UNICEF) was created by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 1946 to provide emergency food and healthcare to children in countries that had been devastated by World War II. In 1953, UNICEF became a permanent part of the UN System and its name was shortened from the original United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund but it has continued to be known by the popular acronym based on this old name. Headquartered in New York City, UNICEF provides long-term humanitarian and developmental assistance to children and mothers in developing countries.

Le Fonds des Nations unies pour l'enfance (ou Unicef, United Nations Children's Emergency Fund en anglais) est une agence des Nations unies (ONU) consacrée à l'amélioration et à la promotion de la condition des enfants. Son nom était originellement United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, dont elle a conservé l'acronyme. Il a reçu le prix Nobel de la paix en 1965. L'UNICEF a activement participé à la rédaction, la conception et la promotion de la convention universelle des droits de l'enfant, adoptée suite au sommet de New York en 1989. Le revenu total pour UNICEF en 2006 a été de 2781 millions de dollars. Ann Veneman, une femme politique américaine républicaine, est directrice exécutive de l'UNICEF depuis mai 2005. Elle a succédé à Carol Bellamy (1995/2005), à James Grant et au franco-américain Maurice Pâte.

Das Kinderhilfswerk der Vereinten Nationen ist eines der entwicklungspolitischen Organe der Vereinten Nationen. Es wurde am 11. Dezember 1946 gegründet, zunächst um Kindern in Europa nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg zu helfen. Heute arbeitet das Kinderhilfswerk vor allem in Entwicklungsländern und unterstützt in ca. 160 Staaten Kinder und Mütter in den Bereichen Gesundheit, Familienplanung, Hygiene, Ernährung und Bildung und leistet humanitäre Hilfe in Notsituationen. Außerdem betreibt es auf internationaler politischer Ebene Lobbying etwa gegen den Einsatz von Kindersoldaten und für den Schutz von Flüchtlingen.

UNICEF – ang. United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund, od 1953 – United Nations Children’s Fund, polska nazwa – Fundusz Narodów Zjednoczonych Pomocy Dzieciom. Organizacja jest częścią systemu ONZ. Powstała z inicjatywy Polaka dr. Ludwika Reichmana 11 grudnia 1946 w wyniku uchwały Zgromadzenia Ogólnego Narodów Zjednoczonych. Głównym celem UNICEF jest pomoc dzieciom w zakresie wyżywienia, ochrony zdrowia, praca na rzecz ich dobra oraz rozwijanie oświaty. Zakres działania organizacji jest globalny.

Il Fondo delle Nazioni Unite per l'infanzia, anche UNICEF (già United Nations Children's Emergency Fund, e dal 1953 United Nations Children's Fund) è un'agenzia delle Nazioni Unite fondata l'11 dicembre 1946 per aiutare i bambini vittime della seconda guerra mondiale.L'UNICEF, con sede centrale a New York, è presente in 158 paesi e si occupa di assistenza umanitaria per i bambini e le loro madri nei paesi in via di sviluppo. I bambini ed i ragazzi sotto i 15 anni sono circa 2 miliardi nel mondo. L'UNICEF è finanziato con contributi volontari di Governi e privati e ha ricevuto il premio Nobel per la pace nel 1965.
