U3
U3 was a joint venture between SanDisk and M-Systems, producing a proprietary method of launching Windows applications from special USB flash drives. Flash drives adhering to the U3 specification are termed "U3 smart drives". U3 smart drives come preinstalled with the U3 Launchpad, which looks similar to the Windows OS start menu and controls program installation. Applications that comply with U3 specifications are allowed to write files or registry information to the host computer, but they must remove this information when the flash drive is ejected. Customizations and settings are instead stored with the application on the flash drive.

U3 (Standard)
U3 ist ein von M-Systems, SanDisk und anderen USB-Speicherherstellern entwickelter Software- und Hardware-Standard, um unter Windows 2000 (mit Service Pack 4), XP und Vista (erst ab U3 Launchpad v1.4) geeignete Programme ohne vorherige Installation von einem USB-Stick auszuführen. Die speziellen USB-Sticks werden auch U3-Sticks genannt. Auf U3-Sticks befindet sich eine Software, genannt U3-Launchpad, zur Verwaltung der U3-zertifizierten bzw. U3-kompatiblen Anwendungen. Mit dem U3-Launchpad kann auch ein Passwortschutz aktiviert werden.

Unreal Engine
Die Unreal Engine ist eine Middleware von Epic Games (früher Epic MegaGames), die bei der Entwicklung von Konsolen- und Computerspielen eingesetzt wird. Seit der ersten Veröffentlichung 1998 wurde die Game-Engine in zahlreichen Spielen verwendet und auf diverse Betriebssysteme und Spielkonsolen portiert.

U3 - przedsiębiorstwo typu joint venture, utworzone przez przedsiębiorstwa Sandisk i M-Systems, które jest producentem platformy programistycznej dla Microsoft Windows, która umożliwia uruchamianie programów i jest umieszczona na specjalnie sformatowanej pamięci USB.
W skład tego rozwiązania wchodzi U3 Launchpad - program podobny do dobrze znanego ze środowiska Windows menu "Start" - umożliwia m.in. uruchamianie programów, ich dodawanie lub usuwanie, zmianę ustawień komputera, zarządzanie pamięcią oraz monitorowanie pracy programów.
Kombinacja platformy U3 oraz popularnych pamięci USB (typu pen drive) oferuje o wiele więcej niż tylko proste przenoszenie plików i danych. Aplikacja działające na platformie U3 mogą być wykorzystywane w organizacji pracy, obsłudze multimediów, rozrywce, diagnostyce, zarządzaniu prywatnymi zbiorami fotografii, itp.
