Turkish: Türkler), or the Turkish people (Türk Halkı), are a
nation (
Millet) defined more by a sense of sharing a common
Turkish culture and having a
Turkish mother tongue by
citizenship,
religion or by being subjects to any particular
country. Nevertheless, in the Republic of Turkey, proper Turkishness is also linked to Turkish citizenship, much in the same way as in
France. In a historic context the word Turk or Turkish has also a wider meaning, because there are Turks in
Balkans,
Europe,
Eurasia and
Central Asia as well as
America. Today, the word is primarily used for the inhabitants of Turkey, but may also refer to the members of sizeable Turkish-speaking populations in the
Republic of Macedonia,
Greece (in particular in
Thrace),
Kosovo (
Serbia),
Romania,
Bulgaria,
Cyprus and other lands of the former
Ottoman Empire. Large Turkish communities have also been established in
Western Europe (particularly in
Germany),
North America and
Australia.

Türken
Die Türken (
türk.: Türk,
pl. Türkler) sind eine ethnische Gruppe in
Anatolien und benachbarten Regionen; der Großteil der Türken lebt in der
Türkei. Die in der Türkei lebenden Türken werden auch als Türkeitürken bezeichnet. Sie machen ca. 70-80% Bevölkerung des Landes aus (also ca. 57 Millionen Menschen). Darüberhinaus gibt es bedeutende Gemeinden in anderen, überwiegend europäischen und asiatischen Ländern, vor allem in der
Bundesrepublik Deutschland.

Turkse volkeren is een aanduiding voor volken die talen spreken die door taalkundigen geplaatst worden onder de familie van
Turkse talen en binnen name Noord- en Centraal-
Eurazië en die, in verschillende gradaties, sommige culturele en historische eigenschappen gemeenschappelijk hebben. De term "Turks" wordt in het Nederlands meestal gebruikt voor de inwoners van de
natie Turkije en voor de
Turkse etniciteit. In bredere zin wordt er echter een brede taalkundige karakterisering mee aangeduid, die niet noodzakelijk etnisch hoeft te zijn. De Turkse talen worden beschouwd als een onderdeel van de taalfamilie van de
Altaïsche talen. Over de hele wereld zijn tussen de 150 en 200 miljoen mensen die een Turkse taal spreken.

Turquía
La República de Turquía,
Türkiye Cumhuriyeti , o simplemente Turquía (Türkiye en
idioma turco), está situada entre
Asia (97
e su territorio) y
Europa (3% de su territorio), aunque oficialmente es reconocida como un Estado europeo, principalmente por su futura posible incorporación a la
Unión Europea. La península de
Anatolia entre el
Mar Negro y el
Mediterráneo forma el «corazón» del país. Limita al noreste con
Georgia, al este con
Armenia y la
República autónoma de Naxçiván (perteneciente a
Azerbaiyán), al sudeste con
Irán, al norte con el
mar Negro, al oeste con
Grecia, el
mar Egeo y
Bulgaria, y al sur con
Iraq,
Siria y el
mar Mediterráneo.
