Turin

Turin (; Piedmontese: Turin pronounced []) is a major industrial city as well as a business and cultural centre in northern Italy, capital of the Piedmont region, located mainly on the west bank of the Po River. The population of the city of Turin is 908,000 (2004 census); its agglomeration totals about 1.7 million inhabitants, while its  metropolitan area has a population of 2.2 million of inhabitants (according to the OECD [1]. The company Fiat automobile manufacturer has its headquarters here, so Turin has been nicknamed as the Automobile Capital of Italy. It was the first capital of the unified Italy.

Turin (italienisch Torino) ist eine Großstadt im Nordwesten Italiens mit 900.608 Einwohnern im Stadtgebiet (2005) und ca. 1,7 Mio. Einwohnern in der Agglomeration (2006) und 2,2 Mio. in der Metropolregion (OECD [1]). Die Stadt liegt auf einer Höhe von 240 m und hat eine Fläche von 130 km². Sie ist Hauptstadt der Region Piemont und der Provinz Turin. Von Frankreich im Westen und der Schweiz im Norden sowie von Mailand im Osten ist sie jeweils gut 100 Kilometer entfernt.

Túrin Turambar (463-498) – postać z fikcyjnego Śródziemia stworzonego przez J. R. R. Tolkiena. Był Adanem. Mimo swoich sukcesów w walce ze złem zabił wielu niewinnych ludzi, co powoduje, że czasami uznaje się go za antybohatera. Syn Húrina i Morweny, władca Dor-lóminu. Znany także pod imionami Neithan, Gorthol, Agarwaen syn Úmartha, Thurin, Adanedhel, Mormegil i Turambar. Przybierał on różne imiona, aby uciec przed klątwą Morgotha. Był synem Húrina. Urodził się w Dor-lóminie, ale wychował w Doriath, pod opieką króla Thingola. Tam też poznał swojego najlepszego przyjaciela Belega. Po jakimś czasie otrzymał od Thingola spuściznę swojego rodu, Smoczy Hełm. Uciekł jednak z Doriathu, aby nie zostać posądzonym o zabicie jednego z elfów, Saerosa.
