Tui is a town located in Galicia (Spain), Spain in the province of Pontevedra. It has 15,350 inhabitants (2003), and is located on the bank of the Minho River, at , facing the Portuguese town of Valença. The name of the town is spelled Tui in both Galician and Portuguese, and Tuy in Spanish.Named as Tude by Romans, it was already mentioned by Strabo and Ptolemy. During the Visigothic period, it was host of the small kingdom of Gallaecia at the time, sacked later by the Normans.
