Troy (Greek: , Troia, also , Ilion; Latin: Troia, Ilium, Turkish: Truva) is a legendary city and center of the Trojan War, as described in the Epic Cycle, and especially in the Iliad, one of the two epic poems attributed to Homer. Trojan refers to the inhabitants and culture of Troy.Today it is the name of an archaeological site, the traditional location of Homeric Troy, Turkish Truva, in Hisarlık in Anatolia, close to the seacoast in what is now Çanakkale province in northwest Turkey, southwest of the Dardanelles under Mount Ida.

The Tróia Peninsula is located next to the Sado River estuary, in the municipality of Grândola, Portugal. Tourism is the peninsula's main activity due to its long beaches facing the Atlantic. There is a ferry boat connection between the peninsula and the city of Setúbal. Tróia has important archeological sites dating from the time when the peninsula was an island called Alcalá, settled by the Romans.

Die Halbinsel Tróia erstreckt sich vom Ort Comporta bis hin zum Fähranleger für die Überfahrt nach Setúbal. Troía gehört verwaltungstechnisch zum Landkreis von Grândola während Comporta zu zum Landkreis von Alcácer do Sal gehört. Beide Landkreise sind dem Bezirk von Setúbal zugeordnet. Der größte Teil der Halbinsel und seiner Dünen ist dem Naturschutzgebiet von Reserva Natural do Estuário do Sado zugeordnet. Ebenfalls auf der Halbinsel Troía befinden sich römische Ruinen einer römischen Siedlung Cetóbriga.

Troja (griechisch: Τροία, Τροίη, auch Ίλιον (Ilion); lat.: Troia, Ilium; türkisch: Truva, in den Altertumswissenschaften wird die lat. Bez. verwendet) ist eine Stadt des Altertums in der Landschaft Troas im Nordwesten der heutigen Türkei am Hellespont in Çanakkale.Hisarlık ist der türkische Name eines etwa 15 m hohen Siedlungshügels. An den  Dardanellen gelegen, kontrollierte die bronzezeitliche Stadt den Zugang zum Schwarzen Meer. Die Schiffe konnten damals noch nicht gegen den Wind kreuzen, also warteten sie im Hafen der Festung auf günstige Winde. Ihr Wegzoll, Lotsen- und Schutzgebühren brachten der Stadt Reichtum. Große Berühmtheit erlangte der Ort in der Antike durch die Dichtung Ilias von Homer und den dort beschriebenen sagenhaften Trojanischen Krieg. Noch in der Spätantike wurden der Ort und seine sagenhaften Helden im Römischen Reich hoch verehrt (siehe Aeneis) und war der Hügel Ilium weit bekannt. Mit dem Beginn des christlichen Mittelalters geriet Troja (und seine Lage) in Vergessenheit.

Troja, Ilion (gr.  oraz lub Ilios, łac. Ilium) to starożytne miasto położone w Troadzie u zachodnich wybrzeży Azji Mniejszej nad rzeką Skamander, współcześnie stanowisko archeologiczne w Turcji w pobliżu wsi Tevfikiye w prowincji Çanakkale.Miasto jest szczególnie słynne z wojny, opisanej w starogreckim poemacie epickim Iliada. Poemat ten przypisuje się niewidomemu poecie Homerowi. Najprawdopodobniej powstał on w VIII lub IX wieku p.n.e. (jakkolwiek zawiera też starszy materiał). Odniesienia do Troi można znaleźć także w innym eposie Homera, Odysei. Homerycka legenda o Troi została wykorzystana przez rzymskiego poetę Wergiliusza w jego poemacie epickim Eneida. Według legendy miasto to zostało zdobyte za pomocą podstępu z koniem trojańskim.

Fu teatro della guerra di Troia narrata nell'Iliade, che ne descrive l'assedio e la distruzione. La città venne riscoperta nel 1872 da Heinrich Schliemann.Il sito archeologico di Troia è stato proclamato patrimonio dell'umanità dall'UNESCO nel 1998.
