Depuis plus d'une vingtaine d'années, le nombre de véhicules tractions a dépassé celui des propulsions, notamment sur les véhicules de grande diffusion.La Traction ou Traction Avant est le nom d'une automobile de la marque Citroën, produite de 1934 à 1957. Son nom provient de son architecture motrice, originale à l'époque.Dans le domaine ferroviaire, la traction d'un train est assurée par des locomotives, motrices ou rames automotrices.

Een aandrijving is een systeem dat ervoor zorgt dat een machine of een machineonderdeel zich voortbeweegt. Te denken valt hierbij aan een verbrandingsmotor om een auto, die via de aandrijflijn ervoor zorgt dat de auto zich voorbeweegt, maar ook aan hydrauliek en pneumatiek, waarmee de aandrijving van losse componenten wordt geregeld.

Тракция — метод лечения переломов, заключающийся в создании постоянной тяги по оси конечности (при помощи системы блоков и грузов за спицу проведенную через кость ниже места перелома), за счет чего уравновешивается тяга мышц и достигается правильное положение обломков. Требует длительного (до нескольких месяцев) постельного режима.
