Tony Award

The Antoinette Perry Awards for Excellence in Theatre, more commonly known as the Tony Awards, recognize achievement in live American theatre and are presented by the American Theatre Wing and the League of American Theatres and Producers at an annual ceremony in New York City. The awards are for Broadway productions and performances, as well as discretionary non-competitive Special Tony Awards and the Regional Theatre Tony Award, and the Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre.

Quello che popolarmente è noto come Tony Award (formalmente Antoinette Perry Award) è un premio annuale che celebra i conseguimenti raggiunti nei teatri americani, includendo i musical. Assegnato da un banco di quasi 700 giudici da diversi campi industriali e giornalistici, è facilmente assimiliabile come l'equivalente per il teatro degli Oscar, Emmy e Grammy. Fu fondato nel 1947, ma fino alla terza cerimonia nel 1949 non era assegnato il medaglione ai vincitori.
