Tomma Abts

Tomma Abts (born 1967) is a German artist and abstract painter living and working in London, England.Tomma Abts was born in Kiel, Germany. She is the winner of the 2006 Turner Prize, having been selected for her solo exhibitions at Kunsthalle Basel, Switzerland, and greengrassi, London. The Tate Gallery has praised "her rigorous and consistent approach to painting" and added "Through her intimate and compelling canvases she builds on and enriches the language of abstract painting." Abts works in acrylic and oil, often building up her designs from repetitive geometrical elements.

Tomma Abts (* 1967 in Kiel) ist eine deutsche Malerin und Gewinnerin des renommierten Turner Prizes 2006. Seit Ende der 90er Jahre malt die in London lebende Künstlerin - kleinformatige, abstrakte Acryl- und Ölbilder überwiegend geometrischer Formen.

Tomma Abts (Kiel, Alemania, 1967) es una pintora alemana. De 1989 a 1995 estudió en la Hochschule der Künste en Berlín. Desde 1995 vive y trabaja en Londres.En 2004 ganó el premio "The Paul Hamlyn Award for Visual Arts". El 4 de diciembre de 2006 obtuvo el premio de arte británico más importante, el Premio Turner; gracias a las exposiciones en el Kunsthalle Basel —un museo de arte contemporáneo de  Basilea (Suiza)— y en la galería Greengrassi de Londres.
