Timo Kotipelto

Timo Antero Kotipelto (born March 15 1969) is the vocalist of the Finnish power metal band Stratovarius and hard rock band Kotipelto.Kotipelto was born in Lappajärvi, Finland. He studied vocals at the pop/jazz conservatory in Helsinki, briefly singing for an amateur cover band named Filthy Asses. In summer of 1994, he applied to Stratovarius, who were looking for a singer at the time, and was accepted. His arrival corresponds closely with the band's rise to international fame. The first album he recorded with the band was Fourth Dimension, in 1995.

Timo Kotipelto (* 15. März 1969 in Lappajärvi, Finnland) ist der Sänger der finnischen Power-Metal-Band Stratovarius.Kotipelto nahm fünf Jahre lang Gesangsunterricht an der Musikhochschule in Helsinki. In dieser Zeit sang er für die Amateur-Coverband Filthy Asses. Im Sommer des Jahres 1994 besuchte er ein Casting der Band Stratovarius, die zu diesem Zeitpunkt einen Sänger suchten, und wurde in die Band aufgenommen. Das erste Album, das er mit der Band aufnahm, war Fourth Dimension im Jahre 1995. Es ist offensichtlich, dass Stratovarius erst mit Kotipeltos Stimme internationalen Ruhm erlangen konnten.

Zarówno debiutancki jak i drugi album są utrzymane na pograniczu power metalu i klasycznego rocka. Przy produkcji płyt Kotipelto współpracował z wieloma muzykami, takimi jak Jari Kainulainen (Stratovarius), Roland Grapow (Helloween/Masterplan), Janne Wirman (Children of Bodom), Michael Romeo (Symphony X) czy Gas Lipstick (HIM).

Biografia Timo si avvicina alla musica nel 1982, quando i suoi genitori gli regalano una batteria; a 16 anni, grazie al gruppo dove militava, si scopre molto dotato nel canto e abbandona la batteria per dedicarsi esclusivamente all'attività di vocalist.Studia presso un conservatorio pop/jazz ad Helsinki fino all'autunno del 1992; nel frattempo suona insieme ai 'Filthy Asses, band locale con cui inciderà un EP nel 1991.Nel 1994 entra negli Stratovarius, già in studio per registrare Fourth Dimension.
