Thracian

"Thracians" may refer to any modern inhabitants of the geographic region of Thrace, regardless of ethnicity; see Thrace. The ancient Thracians were a group of ancient Indo-European tribes who spoke the Thracian language - a scarcely attested branch of the Indo-European language family. Those peoples inhabited the Eastern, Central and Southern part of the Balkan peninsula, as well as the adjacent parts of Eastern Europe.

Les Thraces constituaient un peuple indo-européen (thraco-illyrien) dont les membres partageaient un ensemble de croyances, un mode de vie et parlaient la même langue avec des variations et dialectes. Leur civilisation, encore mal connue, s'est épanouie . Leur culture, orale, faite de légendes et de mythes se différencie de celle des autres peuples de ce temps par la croyance en l'immortalité sous la forme de l'"orphisme thrace" rapporté par Hérodote. Les connaissances que nous avons de ce peuple viennent des auteurs grecs anciens.

Die Thraker waren ein indogermanisches Volk bzw. Völkergruppe in der Antike. Sie wurden schon in der Ilias von Homer erwähnt, sowie von Herodot beschrieben. Thrakische Stämme siedelten auf dem Balkan, dem eigentlichen Thrakien (Rumänien, Moldawien, Serbien, Mazedonien, Bulgarien, Nordgriechenland, zwischen den nördlichen Karpaten und dem Ägäischen Meer), und in Kleinasien, in Mysien, Bithynien und Paphlagonien. Sie seien das größte Volk nach den Indern, schrieb Herodot. Sie besaßen keine eigene Schrift, standen aber in engem Kontakt zu den Griechen und ihrer Kultur. Die alte griechische Religion ist stark von den Thrakern beeinflusst. Ihre Sprache war das Thrakische.

Trakowie to lud zamieszkujący wschodnią część Półwyspu Bałkańskiego, który dotarł na te tereny ok. połowy II tysiąclecia p.n.e., z północnego wschodu. W tym też czasie na tych terenach zaznaczyła się obecność Mezów, którzy przeszli do Azji Mniejszej i chociaż mówili językiem innym niż Trakowie, to jednak część badaczy uznaje ich za lud pochodzenia trackiego. Bezpośrednio od strony zachodniej z Trakami sąsiadowały plemiona Dardanów, które jednak nie były pochodzenia trackiego.

I Traci erano una popolazione indoeuropea storicamente stanziata nell'estremità sudorientale della Penisola Balcanica, nella regione che da loro ha preso il nome (Tracia, corrispondente grossomodo alle ordierne Bulgaria meridionale, Turchia europea e Grecia nordorientale) e in alcune aree adiacenti, espandendosi a nord fino al basso corso del Danubio.
