Thor (Old Norse: Þór, also known as Tor) is the red-haired and bearded god of thunder in Norse Mythology and more generally Germanic mythology (Old English: Þunor, Old Dutch and Old High German: Donar, from Proto-Germanic *Þunraz). The name has the same origin as the word thunder, just as German Donner, Dutch donder, Swedish tordön and Danish and Norwegian torden (with the suffix -dön/-den originally meaning "rumble" or "din").

Thor Salden (born November 28, 1997, stage name: Thor!) from Schoten was the winning contestant in the Belgian pre-selections of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2006 and he represented Belgium in the international final on December 2, 2006 in Bucharest, Romania where he reached 7th place in a field of 15. At the time of the preselections he was the youngest contestant at eight years old. He won both the first semi-final on September 17, 2006 and the final on October 1, 2006. In the opening show he performed together with Attic and Clouseau.

Thor im Norden, oder Donar bei den kontinentalen germanischen Völkern, ist „der Donnerer“ ursprünglich als Gattungsname „der Donner“ (as.Thunaer, ags. þunor, ahd. Donar, an. Þórr von urn. þunraR „donnern“). Daraus erschließt sich der gemeingermanische Gottesname *Þunaraz. Thor/Donar fungiert für die zur See fahrenden Völker als der wichtige Gewitter- und Wettergott und in weiterer Funktion als Vegetationsgottheit innerhalb der bäuerlichen germanischen Volksgemeinschaft. In den eddischen Schriften hat er die Aufgabe des Beschützers von Midgard, der Welt der Menschen.

Thor Salden (* 28. November 1997 in Schoten), öffentlich bekannt als Thor!, ist ein belgischer Sänger.Thor nahm an der belgischen Vorentscheidung zum Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2006 teil und setzte sich dort mit dem Lied Een Tocht Door Het Donker (Eine Reise durch das Dunkel) im Semifinale und im Finale durch. Beim Junior Eurovision Song Contest belegte er den 7. Platz und holte somit das zweitbeste Ergebnis für Belgien an diesem Bewerb ein. Zum Zeitpunkt der Vorentscheidung war er gerade mal acht Jahre und somit auch der jüngste Teilnehmer am JESC.

THOR - projekt bezzałogowej sondy kosmicznej NASA, której celem jest zbadanie wnętrza Marsa.Ma się to stać poprzez wystrzelenie z sondy w stronę Marsa ponad 100 kilogramowego pocisku, który z prędkością ponad 15 tys. km/h wbiłby się w powierzchnię planety, tworząc przy tym krater o średnicy około 50 i głębokości 25 metrów, wyrzucając przy tym materiał znajdujący się pod powierzchnią Marsa. Sonda w tym czasie zrobiła by zdjęcia zderzenia, a umieszczone na niej instrumenty zanalizowały by cząstki lodu, minerałów i związków organicznych wyrzuconych podczas kolizji.

Thor (ze st. skand. Þórr - grom) - jeden z głównych bogów nordyckich z dynastii Asów, odpowiednik południowogermańskiego Donara. Bóstwo burzy i piorunów, bóg sił witalnych, bóg rolnictwa, jako sprowadzający deszcz odpowiedzialny za urodzaje, patronował także ognisku domowemu i małżeństwu. Syn Odyna i Jörd, małżonek Sif.
