Thin Lizzy

Thin Lizzy are a hard rock band who formed in Dublin, Ireland in 1969. The band was originally led by bassist, songwriter and singer Phil Lynott. They are best known for their 1976 songs "Jailbreak" and "The Boys Are Back in Town", both major international hits still played regularly on hard rock and classic rock radio stations.

Thin Lizzy est un groupe de rock irlandais formé à Dublin en 1970. À l'origine un trio composé de Eric Bell (guitariste), Phil Lynott (bassiste, chanteur et principal compositeur) et Brian Downey (batteur), le groupe connaît un premier succès en 1973 avec Whiskey In The Jar, une adaptation d'un air traditionnel irlandais. Après le départ de Eric Bell, remplacé par les guitaristes Brian Robertson et Scott Gorham, Thin Lizzy atteint le sommet de sa popularité en faisant évoluer sa musique vers le hard rock. Sorti en 1976, l'album Jailbreak est une grande réussite, notamment grâce au morceau The Boys Are Back In Town.

Thin Lizzy war eine Rockband um den Bassisten und Sänger Phil Lynott. 1973 hatte die Band einen Hit mit einer Version des irischen Volksliedes Whisky in the Jar. Ihr größter Hit war 1976 The Boys Are Back in Town aus dem Erfolgsalbum Jailbreak. Die Band löste sich 1983 nach einer Abschiedstournee auf. 1986 starb Lynott an den Folgen einer Überdosis Heroin in Salisbury/Wiltshire, (England). 1999 gab es eine Thin Lizzy-Wiedervereinigung mit Tour- und Livealbum. Gitarrist John Sykes, der lediglich auf einem einzigen regulären Thin Lizzy-Album mitwirken durfte, übernimmt seither Phil Lynotts Gesangsparts.

Thin Lizzy to irlandzka grupa muzyczna wykonująca klasyczny hard rock oraz heavy metal. Powstała 1969 roku w Dublinie. Sławę grupie przyniosły utwory pt. "The Boys Are Back In Town" z 1976 roku oraz "Whiskey In The Jar" z 1973 roku, wypromowany ponownie już jako interpretacja w 1998 roku przez grupę Metallica.
