The Hobbit ist ein Adventure, dass 1982 erschien. Seine Handlung baut auf die des gleichnamigen Buchs Der kleine Hobbit von J.R.R. Tolkien auf. Das Spiel wurde von der australischen Softwarefirma Bean Software entwickelt und von der Firma Melbourne House veröffentlicht. Jedem Computerspiel lag auch eine Ausgabe des Buchs bei.

Der kleine Hobbit (englischer Originaltitel: The Hobbit or There and Back Again) ist ein Roman von J. R. R. Tolkien. Er erschien erstmals am 21. September 1937 und wurde später durch den Herrn der Ringe weitergeführt. Den Hintergrund für diese beiden Fantasy-Werke bildet Das Silmarillion. Im Gegensatz zum Herrn der Ringe, dessen Erzählton sich im Lauf der Handlung wandelt, und zum Silmarillion, das von vorneherein nicht als Roman, sondern als Beschreibung einer fiktiven Mythologie geplant war, ist Der kleine Hobbit als Kinderbuch gedacht. Nach der Veröffentlichung des „Herrn der Ringe“ nahm Tolkien jedoch am Hobbit Änderungen vor, vornehmlich um sachliche Widersprüche zu den anderen Werken aufzulösen und diesem einen „erwachseneren“ Anstrich zu geben.

Hobbit, czyli tam i z powrotem (ang. The Hobbit or There and Back Again) - powieść autorstwa J. R. R. Tolkiena, wydana w 1937 roku. Opowiada o wyprawie podjętej przez hobbita Bilba Bagginsa, trzynastu krasnoludów (Thorin, Oin, Glóin, Balin, Dwalin, Fíli, Kili, Dori, Nori, Ori, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur) i czarodzieja Gandalfa do siedziby smoka Smauga, która ma na celu zabicie go i odzyskanie zagarniętego przez niego skarbu. Powieść uznawana jest za prolog do Władcy Pierścieni.

Lo Hobbit o la riconquista del tesoro (titolo originale: The Hobbit, sottotitolato There and Back Again, cioè "Andata e ritorno") è un romanzo fantasy scritto da John Ronald Reuel Tolkien. La sua prima pubblicazione risale al 21 settembre 1937. Il seguito di questo romanzo sarà costituito da Il Signore degli Anelli (The Lord of the Rings), pubblicato tra il 1954 ed il 1955.

The Hobbit è un videogioco d'avventura sviluppato dalla Beam Software e pubblicato nel 1982 dalla Melbourne House. Era disponibile per diversi home computer dell'epoca, tra cui il Commodore 64 e lo ZX Spectrum. Riproduceva la trama dell'omonimo romanzo di Tolkien.The Hobbit era un'avventura testuale, coadiuvata da immagini fisse vettoriali. Il parser utilizzato dal gioco si chiamava Inglish e "capiva" un sottoinsieme della lingua inglese che comprendeva frasi come "ask Gandalf about the curious map then take sword and kill troll with it" ("chiedi a Gandalf spiegazioni circa la curiosa mappa e poi prendi la spada e uccidi il troll con essa"). Lo stesso parser fu in seguito riutilizzato in un altro gioco della Melbourne, Sherlock.
