Théia

In Greek mythology, Theia (also written Thea or Thia), also called Euryphaessa ("wide-shining"), was a Titaness. The name Theia alone means simply "goddess"; Theia Euryphaessa brings overtones of extent (eury-) and brightness. With her brother and husband Hyperion, "mild-eyed Euryphaessa, the far-shining one" (Homeric Hymn to Helios) was the mother of Helios (the Sun), Selene (the Moon) and Eos (the Dawn).

Dans la mythologie grecque et romaine, Théia (en grec ancien  / Theía), Théa ( / Théa), Éthra ( / Aíthra) ou Euryphaessa ou encore Basilée chez Diodore (en grec ancien  / Basíleia ou en latin Basilia, « la reine ») est une Titanide, fille d'Ouranos (le Ciel) et de Gaïa (la Terre), épouse et sœur d'Hypérion, de qui elle a Hélios, Séléné et Éos. Elle appartient ainsi à la première génération divine, antérieure aux Olympiens.

Nella mitologia greca, Teia (scritta anche come Theia, Tea o Tia) è una titanide, sorella e moglie di Iperione, madre di Elio (dio del sole), Selene (dea della luna) ed Eos (dea dell'aurora). Il nome, da solo, significa semplicemente dea; spesso veniva chiamata con l'appellativo Eurifessa (o Eurifaessa) per accentuarne la magnificenza e lo splendore.
