Terrorcore, terror (or in Dutch and French: "terreur") is a music genre. It originated in Frankfurt in 1994 with the birth of the record label Kotzaak (a PCP sublabel). For a short time, terrorcore artists began to appear in Europe, with Netherlands and Germany having the largest terror scenes. Terrorcore is a faster variant of hardcore techno. It is noticeably different to some other hardcore genres like breakcore, which uses samples of breakbeat, and speedcore, which primarily concentrates on faster Tempo. Terrorcore is a difficult music style to describe because everyone has different interpretations of the music. Most commonly, terrorcore is described as many sounds synthesized to create a 'terror effect' on the music, with regular, and slightly louder sounds. In some genres of dance music, DJs put in sharp terror sounds.

Le TerrorCore, ou encore Terror est un style de techno hardcore. Il est caractérisé par un BPM variable de 120 a 600, voire parfois plus, et présente des similarités avec le breakcore.

Terrorcore - najmocniejsza odmiana gatunku hardcore, powstała ok. 1995 roku. Jej korzeni można by się doszukiwać gdzieś w Holandii, gdzie w Rotterdamie powstał nurt gabber. Szybkość utworów terrorcore wynosi od 250 BPM wzwyż, do czego dochodzą sample niczym z horrorów, (zazwyczaj rozciągnięte i bardzo klimatyczne) oraz niekiedy dzwięki niczym z wielkich fabryk, brzmiących jak tarcie się metalu.

Terrorcore, terror, of in het Nederlands en het Frans ook wel eens aangeduid als terreur, is rond 1996 in de Verenigde Staten ontstaan en is kort daarna overgewaaid naar Europa. Nederland en Duitsland hebben de grootste terrorscene.

Terrorcore (o simplemente Terror), original de Holanda, es el nombre que se le da a los estilos rápidos del hardcore. Lo diferencian del speedcore poniendo como límite la estructura del “doble bombo” además de la suciedad y sonidos terroríficos. Como ejemplo se podría decir que en Holanda llamarían Terror a un tema a 250BPM con un compás de 4x4, y Speedcore a un tema a 400BPM y compás de 8x4. Se pueden encotrar temas de entre 120 y 600 bpm.
