The Ten Commandments, also known as the Decalogue, are a set of biblical principles relating to ethics and worship, which play a fundamental role in Judaism and most forms of Christianity. They include instructions to worship only God and to keep the Sabbath, and prohibitions against idolatry, blasphemy, murder, theft, and adultery. Different groups follow slightly different traditions for interpreting and numbering them.

Die Zehn Gebote, auch Dekalog (altgr. ,Zehnwort’ von deka ,zehn’ und logos ,Wort’), gelten im Alten Testament bzw. im Tanach, der Hebräischen Bibel, als die wichtigste Zusammenfassung des Willens JHWHs, des Gottes der Israeliten. Mit ihnen beginnt dort Gottes Offenbarung am Sinai. Daher gelten sie im Judentum und Christentum als Zentrum und Inbegriff der Tora (Weisung) für das Verhalten gegenüber Gott und den Mitmenschen.

Le Décalogue (en hébreu: עשרת הדיברות) - ou Dix Commandements - est un ensemble écrit d'instructions morales et religieuses reçues, selon les traditions bibliques, d'origine divine par Moïse au Mont Sinaï (ou au Mont Horeb). Dans la Torah, Dieu transmet ces instructions morales sous la forme de tables gravées « du doigt de Dieu ». La Bible ne parle pas de « Dix commandements » mais de « Dix paroles » Essré haDevarim (Ex. 34, 28 ; Deut. 4, 13 ; Jé 10, 4) traduit dans la version des Septante, par déka logoï, d'où vient Décalogue.
