Temple Period
For the purposes of this course, the Temple Period is the time from God chose Abraham as the first patriarch of Israel to the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple in 70 CE. From the time of King Solomon, God is worshiped at the Temple in Jerusalem. The central importance of worship at the Temple (and previously at its forerunner the Tabernacle) provides the basis for this period's name. During this time, the events recorded in the Hebrew Bible took place and were written down.
