Telugu ( , ) is a Central Dravidian language primarily spoken in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India, where it is an official language. It is also spoken in the neighbouring states of Chattisgarh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Orissa and Tamil Nadu, and is spoken in the bordering city of Yanam, in the neighboring territory of Pondicherry. According to the 2001 Census of India, Telugu is the language with the third largest number of native speakers in India (74 million), thirteenth in the Ethnologue list of most-spoken languages worldwide, and most spoken Dravidian language. It is one of the twenty-two scheduled languages of the Republic of India and one of the four classical languages.

Telugu ist eine Sprache aus der dravidischen Sprachfamilie. Sie wird von 74 Millionen Menschen in Südindien gesprochen. Damit ist Telugu die größte dravidische Sprache und nach Hindi und Bengali die Sprache Indiens mit den drittmeisten Sprechern. Das Verbreitungsgebiet des Telugu deckt sich weitgehend mit den Grenzen des Bundesstaates Andhra Pradesh, in dem es von 84 % der Bevölkerung gesprochen wird und als Amtssprache dient. Daneben ist Telugu auf überregionaler Ebene als eine von 22 Nationalsprachen Indiens anerkannt.

Le télougou (nom local : tĕlugu / తెలుగు) est une langue de l'Inde. Il est parlé dans l'État d'Andhra Pradesh, où il a le statut de langue officielle, ainsi qu'à Yanaon (Union territoriale de Pondichéry), dans l'arrière pays tamoul, à l'est du Karnataka, au Maharastra, en Orissa.
