Tefillin (Askhenazic: ; Israeli Hebrew: , ) also called phylacteries ( from Ancient Greek phylacterion, form of phylássein, φυλάσσειν meaning "to guard, protect") are a set of small black leather boxes containing scrolls of parchment inscribed with verses from the Torah, which are worn by observant Jews during weekday morning prayers. Although "tefillin" is technically the plural form (the singular being "tefillah"), it is loosely used as a singular as well. The hand-tefillin, or shel yad, is placed on the upper arm, and the strap wrapped around the arm, hand and fingers; while the head-tefillin, or shel rosh, is placed above the forehead. The Torah commands that they should be worn to serve as a "sign" and "remembrance" that God brought the children of Israel out of Egypt.

Tefillin (תפילין təfilin von hebr. תפילה təfila „Gebet“), auch Gebetsriemen oder Phylakterien genannt, sind ein Paar schwarze lederne „Gebetskapseln“ mit Lederriemen, die Schriftrollen mit eingeschriebenen Bibelversen enthalten. Der Hand-Teil, oder hebr. tefillin schel jad, wird von Juden um den Arm, die Hand und Finger gewickelt getragen. Der Kopf-Teil, oder hebr. tefillin schel rosch, wird von Juden über der Stirn, mit dem Riemen zum Hinterkopf getragen. Sie dienen als ein „Zeichen“ und „Erinnerung“, dass Gott die Kinder von Israel aus der Sklavenschaft Ägyptens befreite. Nach jüdischem Recht sollen sie von Juden wochentags beim Morgengebet getragen werden.

Les Téfilines תפילין (phylactères), sont deux boîtes (ou batim, maisons, réceptacles) en cuir contenant des morceaux de parchemin que les hommes, à partir de l'âge de treize ans, portent sur la tête (chel roch) et sur le bras gauche (le droit pour les gauchers) (chel yad), pour l'office du matin en semaine et ce conformément aux instructions de la Torah :
«Que les commandements que je te prescris aujourd'hui soient gravés dans ton cœur ; tu les inculqueras à tes enfants, tu en parleras constamment, dans ta maison ou en voyage, en te couchant et en te levant. Attache-les en signe sur ta main, et porte-les comme un fronteau entre tes yeux.» (Deutéronome 6:4-9)

Tefillin (hebr. תפילין) är två små svartfärgade läderkapslar innehållande pergamentrullar med verser från Torah. De två kapslarna kallas shel rosh (huvud) samt shel yad (arm).
