Techstep

Techstep (also referred to as tech) is a major subgenre of drum and bass, characterized by a dark, sci-fi mood, near-exclusive use of synthesised or sampled sound sources, and influences from industrial and techno music at the forefront. Although described as having a "techy" feel, techstep's relationship with techno should not be overstated. It shares the technique of creating a high-energy collage from abstract, synthetic noises, including samples, bleeps and squelches: it rarely uses instruments that have not been processed by effects. Similarly, quantized drum-machine kit and percussion sounds are favoured over naturalistic human breakbeats. However, it usually adheres to drum and bass norms in other regards, especially in terms of musical structure, with the emphasis on the "drop". Techstep saw jungle's obsession with bass change from aiming for low and deep to exploring timbre, artists aiming to outdo each other with ever more distorted and "twisted" bass sounds.

Techstep est le nom donné au style le plus rude de Drum and Bass. Il peut être comparé à la techno, au hardcore ou au metal, mais ici avec des synthés passés dans de grosses distortions et des rythmiques trés lourdes. C'est un des styles les plus populaires actuellement, inventé autour de 1996 par des artistes comme Trace et Ed Rush.

Techstep to ciężka i dosyć mroczna odmiana muzyki drum and bass zbudowana na bazie mocnych, przesterowanych basów, zdecydowanych uderzeń perkusji oraz powtarzających się motywów dźwiękowych (i melodyjnych) zwanych z angielska loopami. Charakteryzuje się równym i cyklicznym uderzeniem werbla. Sztandarowymi producentami tego gatunku są: Concord Dawn z Nowej Zelandii oraz Bad Company z Wielkiej Brytanii.

Il Techstep è uno dei maggiori sottogeneri della drum'n'bass, caratterizzato da sonorità dark e sci-fi, fonti sonori quasi esclusivamente sintetizzate. Influenzato principalmente dalla musica industrial e techno, il techstep a volte viene confuso con il neurofunk, un'evoluzione del techstep che mette più enfasi sull'atmosfera dark e le strutture ritmiche tipiche del Funk.
